Our Daily Charge
Simply put, to bring joy to people. We have the privilege to be makers and our passion begins before the sun rises. We work with our hands and hearts to make everything from scratch with nothing artificial. We hold flavor above all else and we never compromise on quality. Together we are a family. Together we work tirelessly on constant change and improvement with the understanding that every challenge is an opportunity to become better. And at the end of the day, we know that our deepest gratitude goes to our loyal customers and supportive community.
Standing with our black community
As business owners, we have taken the last few days to pause and reflect. In 15 years, we have never blurred the line between our personal views and business agenda. But, today for the first time, we are giving our personal voice to this business.
We will not stand by silently while members of our black community are dying senselessly. We will not stand by silently while members of our black community continue to experience injustice. We will not stand by silently while basic human rights are withheld. As human beings and business owners, we stand united with our black community— we are with you in voice, in action and solidarity.
We have spent the last week listening carefully. What can we do that really makes a difference? We have a long history of listening to our customers and our community and changing accordingly, so we encourage and invite your ideas by contacting us directly..
As we see it, progress toward change is always an evolving workplan, so here is our commitment as we begin our journey.
Every week, we will dedicate a day on our social media platform to raise awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as putting a spotlight on other marginalized groups, community action items, and ideas that effect social change.
Every Tuesday, beginning June 9 and through Sept 1, we will donate 10% of gross sales to the organizations listed here. These totals will be reported weekly.
As we recently contemplated what to do with an empty wall in our bakery, a local art community reached out with the answer— a dedication to art that supports this movement and challenges us all to think critically.
TALK TO OUR CHILDREN:
We have a profound duty as parents and guardians to teach our children about injustice, hate, and equality. Today, we started with an Arnold Lobel story, “The Great Blueness and Other Predicaments.”
